Habitat Trinidad and Tobago:
Habitat for Humanity® Trinidad & Tobago (HFHTT) is a non-profit, Christian organization focused on eradicating poverty housing and homelessness in Trinidad and Tobago.
We believe in the dignity of every man, woman and child and seek to put God's love into action by bringing together people to build homes, communities and hope.
History
Habitat for Humanity® Trinidad & Tobago was started in 1997 under the umbrella of FEEL (Foundation for the Enhancement and Enrichment of Life) by former Minister of Education of Trinidad and Tobago, Clive Pantin.
HFHTT is a national affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International which was founded in the United States in 1976 to help eradicate poverty housing worldwide.
As of June 30, 2012, HFHTT has assisted 953 families with 256 housing solutions. Through this, many low-income families have been able to access simple, decent and affordable housing that otherwise may not have been possible. We continue to strive and work towards a world where everyone has a decent place to live.

Trinidad & Tobago itinerary (sample / expect activities to change)
Day 1: Arrival day (Saturday)
× Arrive throughout the
day, but hopefully everyone’s in before dinner.
× Pick up from the
airport and transport to the accommodation by HFHTT rep. (2 shuttles total are budgeted
for the day. Transportation “on own” if
arriving at other times, but we can help coordinate.)
× For members arriving
very early in the morning, there is an optional (but enjoyable) tour of the
area, inclusive of some light hiking.
× Dinner (which is our
first budgeted meal) and overnight at the guesthouse.
Day 2: Free day (Sunday)
× Breakfast at
guesthouse, then excursion to Maracas Bay (with “Bake & Shark” lunch) as we
ease into the work-week.
× Orientation in guesthouse;
dinner afterwards.
Days 3-6: Work days (Monday-Thursday)
×
Breakfast at guesthouse every morning starting at 6:45.
×
Depart for job site at 7:30am / Safety Orientation upon
arrival.
×
Work / break / work / catered lunch / work / break / work
/ clean-up / depart at 4:00pm.
×
Shower / rest / group meetings (as needed) / catered
dinner at guesthouse every night.
×
Cultural activities as desired (like Steel Pan demonstration,
etc.).
Day 7: Work morning, and Celebration Ceremony in
afternoon (Friday)

Breakfast at guesthouse / catered lunch at the work site
around noon.
×
Celebrate our accomplishments of the week with the partner
family.
×
Some souvenir shopping in capital city, then final catered
dinner.
Day 8: Cultural Activity day (Saturday)
×
Transport to the airport for flight to Tobago (individual breakfast
at airport).
×
Glass-bottomed-boat tour (complete with snorkeling
opportunity) of Buccoo Reef and Nylon Pool.
Then relaxation time (and lunch) on the beach at Pigeon Point.
×
Dinner at excellent Italian pizzeria, then evening airport
departure back to Trinidad (although
some may stay behind for some independent travel).
×
Time enough for final packing, and prepare for
early-morning departure.
Day 11: Departure day (Tuesday)
×
Transport to the airport for home, or on to further
independent travel.
